About:
Spend time with the animals! The “Pumpkin Smash” is not just about fun—it’s about giving back to the environment and supporting our animal rescue efforts. After the smashing, the pumpkins will be repurposed as nutritious treats for our goats and other animals.

Event Objectives:

  • Engage the Community: Bring together families and community members for a unique and enjoyable event that raises awareness about animal care and sustainability.
  • Support the Animals: Collect pumpkins to provide a natural, healthy food source for our rescued animals.
  • Raise Funds: Offer additional activities and refreshments to raise funds for ongoing animal care and other rescue programs.

Activities:

  1. Pumpkin Smash Stations: Set up designated areas where participants can smash their pumpkins using tools provided. Ensure safety by having staff monitor each station.
  2. Animal Interaction Zones: Allow participants to meet and interact with the animals, learning more about how their pumpkins will be used as food.
  3. Games and Contests: Organize fun games like a pumpkin toss, or a “biggest pumpkin” competition, with small prizes for the winners.
  4. Refreshment Stands: Offer seasonal treats like hot cider, pumpkin pie, and snacks for purchase, with proceeds going toward the animal rescue.
  5. Live Entertainment: Arrange for local musicians or a DJ to provide entertainment during the event.
  6. Educational Booths: Set up booths with information about the rescue, sustainability practices, and how participants can get involved in animal welfare.

Promotion:

  • Social Media Campaign: Create event pages on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms, and regularly post updates, countdowns, and engaging content leading up to the event.
  • Flyers and Posters: Distribute flyers and posters in local schools, community centers, and businesses.
  • Email Newsletter: Send out event details to your mailing list, inviting supporters to join and share with others.
  • Local Media: Reach out to local newspapers, radio stations, and online community boards to feature the event.

Logistics:

  • Volunteers: Recruit and train volunteers to help with setup, event activities, and cleanup.
  • Supplies: Ensure you have enough tools for pumpkin smashing (mallets, hammers), safety equipment (goggles, gloves), trash bins for non-compostable waste, and enough refreshments.
  • Animal Care: Arrange for additional staff or volunteers to monitor the animals and ensure they are safely engaged during the event.
  • Safety Measures: Set up first aid stations, ensure proper crowd management, and have hand sanitizing stations available.

  • Morning Setup: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Event Start: 10:00 AM
  • Pumpkin Smash Sessions: Ongoing throughout the day
  • Animal Interactions: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
